Over the years, there have been many bootleg versions of Tori's first album, Y Kant Tori Read (here's a great resource explaining more). Most of them have obvious differences that make it easy to distinguish from the authentic release. This is the first that looks alarmingly official. It first surfaced in summer of 2016 from various sellers in Russia. At least 6 copies were sold and distributed before it became apparent to some in the collecting community that it was a counterfeit version. Be extremely careful if buying this album and don't be afraid to ask the seller for more detailed pictures. Refer to the details below to help authenticate this CD.

1. The front cover is noticeably darker in this counterfeit version (as it is in most unofficial copies). In particular, the left side of Tori's face, her hair, and the pink area to her left are less vibrant than in the official release.

2. The authentic version has a reflective ring outside the red and black rings on the disc. This is absent in the counterfeit. Note: In the images above, this ring appears black due to scanner lighting

3. The font on the disc and the back insert is somewhat thinner on this counterfeit. This is most noticeable in the "W" of the Warner logo around the rim of the disc and in the center holes of capital "A" letters.

4. On this counterfeit, the matrix area is approximately double the thickness of the same area on the authentic. Note that everything else about the matrix is identical to the official release, so the number itself cannot be used to authenticate the CD.

5. The jewel cases on this counterfeit version differ from the original. On the counterfeit, the left-most edge of the black tray (visible on the front when the jewel case is closed) is smooth, whereas it is ridged on the official. The quality of the counterfeit case also feels cheaper because the plastic is thinner. Of course, the case can be easily switched out, so don't rely on this indicator alone.

6. While most CDs will allow some light to pass through, the counterfeit version is considerably more transparent than the official version when held up to light.
